hey :)
so this is a little new series I want to start on my blog; clothes that flatter different body types. today's installation, pear shapes.
pear shapes are usually defined as heavier on the bottom on the top (e.g. bigger hips/butt and thighs, smaller chest, defined waist)
pear shapes are usually relatively easy to work with because you can do a lot with a defined waist, and as long as you steer away from anything voluminous or busy around the hips, you should be okay.
(links to each item can be found by clicking on the set, which will take you to the polyvore home page, where links are in the side bar)
steal the look:
cuffed destroyed jeans- $17 at wet seal
ruffled green tank top- $16 at forever 21
patchwork hobo- $30 at delias
long necklace- $25 at delias
leather gladiators- $35 at american eagle outfitters
this is a cute casual outfit that you could wear almost anywhere. with pear shapes, you want to stay away from jeans that are too fitting, like skinny fit, because they can make you look like a balloon. straight fits are usually the best because they create a good aesthetic appeal. the ruffles and the cluster necklace keep the attention at your chest/waist, and not your hips.
steal the look:
graphic tank top- $8.80 at forever 21
medium wash straight jeans- $35 at american eagle outfitters
zebra flats- $25 at american eagle outfitters
gray hobo- $35 at delias
rhinestone bow ring- $6.80 at forever 21
colorful bangles- $31 from monsoon.co.uk
this is a cute outfit that can make you look stylish without trying too hard. the drapey tank top can easily cover your hips and thighs, so if those are problem areas for you, no one will have to know! the flats and bangles add a little interesting touch to the outfit, and the gray bag sticks to the generally neutral theme. if it's too much for you, you could definitely ditch the ring.
