FASHION TREND: The UGG Boot

Hello beauties :)

Long time no see, eh?

So today's post is going to be on probably the biggest trend for winter; the UGG boot. There are a lot of knock offs of UGGs (called fUGGs) and for good reason; each pair of UGGs will set you back $180. Some people though, think of it as a investment in quality footwear. Because, after all, UGGs are made out of genuine suede and sheepskin.

And my computer is being a buttface right now and not letting me upload any pictures...

But there are two basic styles for UGG boots- tall, and short. Short come up to about your ankle, and tall are on your calves. There's also the normal style, which is somewhere in between

UGGs are great boots to own because they can be worn so many different ways. They look great with jeans and a t'shirt, but also look cute with a skirt and tights.

However, some people just can't justify spending close to $200 on a pair of shoes. I'm with that crowd :) So for cheapstakes like us, there are the fUGG boot

These basically stand for fake UGGs, but from far away, no one will be able to tell. They generally aren't made from expensive materials like sheepskin, although some brands like emu or bearpaw will use them.

So I think that the UGG boot (or fUGG)is a huge trend this season, and that if you like the look, you should definitely get a pair. A fake pair will generally run you about $30, give or take, but if you hit a good sale, you can get them for under $20.

Happy new year, lovelies :)

Finally! A Legit Post!

Hey there :)

So I've been thinking about a couple of things, and wanted some feedback:
a. I was going to do a Christmas Wish List video for my YouTube account. Good or bad idea?
b. What about a Christmas present video?

And, I definitely will be getting more posts up because I'm *finally* out for winter break. And it's snowing outside :) I want to be a little cliche and curl up by the fireplace with hot chocolate and watch TV...

Anyways, this post will be on one of the hottest fashion trends right now: bows!

gclauds posted a video about bows on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/user/gclauds?blend=1&ob=4#p/u/4/cqcMsUy1jTQ

Bows are on almost accessory (or piece of clothing for that matter) that you can think of. Which is good, because bows can take any boring thing, and instantly make it cute.

How adorable is this dress?! It has a nice big bow at the top, and some ruffly shoulders to help complete the whole vintage theme. It could look adorable with some tights, don't you think? This one is from Forever 21 and is only $29!

I adore bow headbands because they instantly transform any plain outfit. They're also especially easy to make (just cover an old plastic headband with some satiny ribbon and make a bow to attach), but for only $3.80, you can afford to buy this one from Forever 21 ;)
Perfect. This is so pretty. Bow cardigans are great for dressing up a plain old dress, and they're nice for keeping warm in the wintertime. This one is from Forever 21, and it's only $24.80!!!!!
Bow rings can be great for statement pieces, especially if they're kind of big. This one is so cute, and it would look so pretty with almost anything! This one is from Forever 21 and was only a couple of bucks.
Bow belts can be great for not only defining your figure, but adding some flair to a boring dress. Again this one is from Forever 21, and was ridiculously cheap.

That's all for now....see you soon :)

DISCLAIMER
I have not been paid for this review by Forever 21, nor is my opinion biased. I bought all products with my own money.

e.l.f. Cosmetics

Hey there :)

So don't even get started on how long it's been since I've done anything fashion related...

Anyways, this week is finals week for me, so I'm totally stressed out, but I wanted to ask you guys, have any of you tried out e.l.f. cosmetics?

What did you think of them? What do you recommend I buy?

I want to get the Brightening Eye Colors, and the Corrective Concealer from the Studio Line, but it's not worth it spending $4 on something with $7 shipping, so any more ideas?

Yeah. I know. Another update.

Hey there :)

So whenever I'm watching a video on YouTube, I'm always like 'okay okay, cut the crap, we all know how sorry you are that you haven't put a video up, just get to the point.' So I vow to not do the whole "I'm soooo sorry not to have a post up!" thing to again. Just take that as a given from now on :)

Anyways, I don't think I'll be able to get any posts up before Saturday, because I have finals this week (I know, my school is weird), and then on Saturday I have my ISEEs (yikes!) to it's like studying overboard right now.

Thank you guys so much for understanding and sticking with :)

Happy December!!!!!

requests? just put them in the comments ;)

Makeup Pieces I Love (splurges!)

Sorry I've been doing so many makeup posts! I'm just have 'fashion block'. Yeah, I know, that was cheesy ;)

These are some products I've recently fallen in love with. I'll do one of these with drugstore brands. Because pretty soon I'll be broke if I keep splurging.
Bare Minerals Blush in Joyous Jennifer ($18 at bareescentuals.com or wherever BM stuff is sold)- Someone gave this to me as a gift, and the bottom was messed up, and I seriously thought it was an eyeshadow. The shade is that pretty. It looks like the above picture, except that it has more pink in it. It's a really beautiful color that would look stunning with green or blue eyes.
Bare Minerals SPF 15 Foundation ($25 at bareescentuals.com or wherever BM stuff is sold)- this is my favorite foundation of all time. It actually lets your skin breathe. This one has a slight glimmer to it, but if that bothers you, not to worry! Bare Minerals also has a matte foundation too. I know that $25 is a little expensive, but this is really worth it. I mean it.
Bare Minerals Passionate Plum Eyecolor ($13 at bareescentuals.com or wherever BM stuff is sold)- This is a beautiful color for fall, because as I've said several times before, plum is this season's color. It goes absolutely wonderfully with brown eyes, and it ads a certain depth to eyes, especially if you line them with a dark liner, with just a hint of white in the corners to widen them.
MAC Mythology Eye Shadow ($14.50 at maccosmetics.com or wherever MAC is sold)- Let me start off by saying this picture does not do the shade justice. It's about the same color, but it has this absolutely beautiful orangey kind of shimmer to it. It looks great with any eye color, because it can form a nice contrast with blue, or be kind of neutral with brown. One of my favorite shades.

That's all for now :) Comment if you need links

Holiday Makeup...

Hey there :)

So today I'm going to talk about makeup for the holidays. We all know that it's supposed to be very fun and glittery, and I found some really great pieces that would be a great addition to your makeup collection. Even though some of them are a tad pricey... (links where you can grab these are at the end, and just a note, you can get most of these at either drugstores or department stores- I just got the links from the actual brand's website)

NYX Glitter Eyeliners ($2 at cherryculture.com)- Seriously?! $2?! You could buy one of these in each color and still be under $20! Glittery eyeliners are so fun to have on hand for the holidays, because they add a nice festive touch to your eyes. I also like Urban Decay's Midnight Cowboy Glitter Eyeliner, but I couldn't get a picture.
essie Mint Candy Apple nail polish ($8 in select stores and online)- How festive is this color? It would look so cute if you did a French tip with this. It's a frosty minty color, almost like the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream. essie nail polish's are amazing quality, and this color reminds me of a China Glaze one that I have. But I can't remember the name :(
MAC Dsqaured Lipstick ($14 at maccosmetics.com)- Everyone thinks MAC is overpriced. But $14 for a lipstick that's good quality really isn't that bad. This is a beautiful clean, pink shade. And, it's limited edition, so hurry and pick yours up now!

LUSH Secret Santa Gift ($10 at lush.com or in LUSH stores)- I know, it's not makeup. But this is just plain fun. It would make a great stocking stuffer. And who doesn't love bath bombs? Anyone would be thrilled to get this gift...

MAC Mineralize Blush in Superdupernatural ($21 at maccosmetics.com)- The name says it all. This stuff really is natural. In the winter, you want to steer away from rosy cheeks because there's normally more of a focus on your eyes or your lips. This blush is great because it feels really light, and it's not very matte, so you won't look like a china doll.
OPI's Nail Lacquer in Holiday Glow ($8.50 at Sephora and Ulta)- This is one of the most gorgeous shades I've ever seen. Plums are very in for this season, and this ads a nice golden glow to it. In general, OPI nail polishes are really good quality, and this isn't an exception. You can also buy this online, from Amazon or Ulta and Sephora's websites.
Lancome Sparkling Cherub Powder ($40 from Lancome's website)- Alright. So it's kind of expensive. But I honestly think it's worth every penny. My mom has this stuff, and it's just so adorable for the holidays. It gives your complexion this gorgeous gorgeous sparkle. And, isn't the design of the powder so cute?
Estee Lauder's Signature Lipstick in Simply Red ($19.50 at Nordstrom)- Estee Lauder has set the gold standard for lipstick with this stuff. They put 1,500 hours into developing the lipstick, and tested it on a panel of over 500 women! What I like about it is that it's super moisturizing, and it has an SPF of 15. This is in the basic red, because red lips are just so hot for the holidays. Throw on some clear or red tinted lip gloss on top for a cute look.

Update :)

I'm going to start typing my updates in fun colors, because they just look so bleh otherwise. I just wanted to say that I'm going to be out of town for Thanksgiving weekend (from Wednesday the 25th to the following Monday) so I won't have any posts up.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and I hope you all have a really great time with your families :)

And, I'm ridiculously excited about the new OneRepublic album that came out on Tuesday. So if any of you are fans...

Later :)

Hot Shoes for Fall

The Mocassin- these are great shoes to throw on when you're in a hurry, or just are having an off-day. They're like Converse, in that sense. I like dark brown mocassins, but these are pretty cool too. These are from American Eagle and are $29.50
The Metallic Flat- these are absolutely adorable for those warmer fall days, where you don't want to bother with boots. Like in the picture, they look great with tights, and a skirt or something. I like this pair from American Eagle, and they're only $29.50!
The (f)UGG- UGG's are very popular on the streets this season (as always), but I've had some people ask me about fuggs. I don't think that wearing fuggs makes you any less fashionable or anything, I mean, not everyone wants to spend $180 on boots, and that's fine. I chose this pair of fake UGGs from American Eagle because I thought that they were really cute, and are only $40. Try emu or Bear Paw (I think that's the name) for other cute boots like this.
The Thigh-Highs- thigh-high boots are all over the runway this season. Unfortunately, they look best on tall people (because on shorter people, they would go all the way up your thighs!). Check out some pictures from New York Fashion Week for some inspiration on how to wear these. These are by Chinese Laundry and are only $99!
The Lace-Up Bootie- These look so cute with tights and a skirt. They're a great way to dress up a kind of boring outfit, and they're just so fun to look at! I've seen some good ones from Forever 21, although I've heard they're uncomfortable, so I chose this pair from Cynthia Vincent to show you guys. It retails for $325, which is a little pricey, but it's a good example.
The Slouchy Boot- slouchy boots are absolutely essential because they can be worn with so many different things. They look cute when you wear them with jeans and a t'shirt, and edgy if you wear them with a skirt and tights. Wet Seal has an adorable pair for only $25, but these are from Piperlime, and are $99.
The Riding Boot- These are so in for this season! You can find any type (leather or fake) and length (short or tall)...there are just so many riding boots out there. I really like the caramel colored ones, but these black ones are pretty cute too, aren't they? These are from Forever 21, and are $32.80

Fall Makeup Trends

So I'm branching out. Into makeup :)

I haven't seen a lot of things out there about fall makeup trends, so here's one...

Purple Eyeshadows- anything from a baby lavender to a rich plum. Purples are great for any time of day: they can look elegant at night, or casual for the day. One thing I really like is smokey eyes made with different shades of purples- gorgeous!

Glossy- kind of vague, but I have seen glossy eyeshadows in addition to lips. It's a funky look that can look really sophisticated. To try out the glossy eyeshadow, mix some of your favorite eyeshadow or pigment with some Vaseline. For a really glossy lip gloss, I recommend MAC's Dazzleglass.

Chocolates- deep chocolate browns are so pretty on nails, and maybe even lips if you can pull it off. Chocolate eyes would look stunning with a plum colored dress or something.

See you soon :)

Necessities For This Season (Part 1 of many...)

A beret. Seriously. How cute is this? It adds a nice Parisian touch to anything you wear it with, and it's comfy cozy. Forever 21 has some nice ones, although I'm skeptical of the quality, so this one is from
Fun patterned tights. These are so cute when they're paired with skirts or long tunics. You can wear them with some flats or boots too, and it's perfect for fall! American Eagle has a huge selection of tights (this pair is from there for about $12.50).
A pea coat. They're absolutely gorgeous, and look really nice paired with some scarves. This is the one outerwear essential for this season, so make sure that you have at least one! I have one from Macy's that I got for about $40 (super steal!), but this one is from American Eagle, and is on sale for $99.95.

A chunky knit sweater. You can wear this with *so* many things, it's not even funny. They're cute and comfy, and look great. This particular one has a cowl neck, which is a big trend this season. You can pair it with long necklaces, jeans, maybe even a skirt...like I said, anything! This particular one is from American Eagle and is $49.50.

REVIEW: Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer

Hey darlings :)

Long time, no see...

So as for the You Tube channel, it's basically a fail. As of now. Mostly because making a good video requires editing, and I just don't have time to work so hard on them. And I don't want to make you guys crappy videos. So if you give me a little more time, I promise that I *will* put up videos for you, like a couple of weeks. We'll see :)

I know that this blog is supposed to be about fashion, but I want to start blogging a bit about makeup. If you don't mind. So today I want to to do a review of Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer.
If you haven't tried this stuff yet, you're seriously missing out. I first borrowed (and never returned) this from my friend, and it was in Merlot, a gorgeous burgundy color. But they discontinued it :( I decided I wanted a new shade so I bought it in Rhubarb (above) from Ulta for about 5 bucks. What I really like about it is that it's not a really rich shade, so you can layer glosses on top of it.

Another great thing about it is that it really moisturizes your lips. It has a nice minty smell, and kind of tingles. But in a good way. This is a great to keep in your purse or something during the winter, because a lot of us get dry lips.

I definitely give this 5 stars. I *really* recommend it, and it comes in a bunch of colors. Next on my list, champagne. Check it out here:
http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?skuId=2142467&productId=VP11651&navAction=push&navCount=1&categoryId=cat90012#sku2133425

TREND REPORT: High-Waisted Skirt (and blog)

Hey lovelies :)

So I couldn't shoot any videos for YouTube today. My school has this thing where, on our days off, some sophomores and freshmen 'babysit' the primary school (I go to a K-12), and so a couple of my friends and I, and some freshmen had to take care of 30 little kids for 8 hours. Bad scene.

I wanted to talk a little about high-waisted skirts because they're in not only on the runways, but also in 'everyday life', aka stores.
I think that this is so adorable. Obviously, it's not perfect for fall (unless you're lucky) but if you throw on a cardigan, and maybe some tights, you'll be able to get away with it. High-waisted skirts are good for people who are on the shorter side, like me (I'm only 5'2'') because if you pair them with boots or pumps, they can make your legs look looooooong. Another good thing to wear with a high-waisted skirt is those cluster necklaces that you see in a bunch of stores like Forever 21. They draw attention to the tucked in waist, so if you have an hourglass figure, it's perfect!
Sorry about the teeny tiny picture :( This look is just a tad more appropriate for fall (although most people would have to wear something under that shirt). It's 'interesting' because the v goes all the way down to wear the skirt meets the shirt, and the belt covers that up. So maybe you wouldn't want to wear something underneath... But either way, it's a cute look.

TREND REPORT: Plaid

Hey there :)

So you'd have to be living under a rock not to know that plaid is the 'it' design this season. From plaid button-ups to flats, you can find plaid *anything*. The problem is that some people don't know how to wear plaid, and they end up looking like a preppy mess.

The one thing you need to keep in mind with plaid, like most other prints, is that you don't want to over do it. Just like with leopard print- you don't want to have a plaid shirt, plaid purse, plaid shoes, and a plaid headband.
My favorite way to wear plaid is like this- just a simple button-up shirt. You can wear it mostly buttoned up, like in the picture, or you can wear open with a plain or graphic t' underneath. It makes for a nice look that doesn't look too busy
.
Statement shoes are all the rage this season, so plaid shoes are a given. They're a great way to turn a 'meh' outfit into something cute and trendy. They can be dressy or casual, depending on the pieces that you pair them with. Great way to dress up jeans and a t'shirt when you're feeling lazy...

I can't find any good pictures of plaid scarves, but those are definitely a must-have! I've seen them at Forever 21 and American Eagle. They're great for adding more dimension to a layered outfit, like a v-neck and a cami, or a cardigan with something.

All of the pictures are of things that you can buy from www.delias.com

Thanks for reading :)

Stila Makeup

Okay, I lied. I am going to put some posts up. Blogging gets priority over English papers. Hands down.

So I know that this is supposed to be about the 'fashion world' but most of my followers also have makeup videos on their You Tube channels, so I thought that I'd share this with you, my Stila haul.

I just ordered this stuff online, but it's all stuff I've gotten before. I'm doing this blog now because I *know* I won't do it later. I haven't bought makeup in a long time, so I kind of splurged, but I had money on hand (lots of babysitting!). Cover-up Stick ($20)- this is the only cover-up stick that has ever touched my face, and for good reason. It's not oily at all, and doesn't clog your pores like some cover-ups can. It's great for those under eye circles you get, and it's easy to blend into your skin. I'm shade C.Glitter Eyeliner ($6)- I bought this last year at this time too because I thought it was such a fun thing to have on hand for the holiday season. I have it in purple silver, and I have to say, I'm very impressed by it. It's easy to get a precise line, and there's hardly any smudging. This time, I picked it up in golden silver.

Holiday Lip Glaze Collection ($25)- I was so excited about this one because each year Stila comes out with a new collection. It's a great deal, because you can try out 8 different shades, and find the ones that you like. I already have four of the colors (kitten, starfruit, blackberry, and cranberry) because those aren't new, but the new ones are plum fairy, candy, marmalade, and pinkle twinkle. All of the new ones and kitten are mostly sheer, and the other three are tinted. My favorite out of the ones I've tried is kitten because it's the perfect sheer color, and you can layer colors under it too.

Huge Thanks and Update

Hey there :)

So first of all, I have a *huge* thank you due to gclauds, ogoshitistash, and GLAMondemand13. They all are amazing people who helped me get some new subscribers to this blog. Definitely check out their channels on You Tube (just www.youtube.com/ and then their username). They all are amazing at what they do (and they all are incredibly nice people)- GLAMondemand13 and ogoshitistash both have amazing makeup tutorials, and gclauds has some great tips and a cool sense of style.

As for the update, I'm really busy with school work right now so I think it might be a while (maybe until Friday) until I can get another post up. It totally kills me but I have so many papers and labs to finish, and on top of that, I might be transferring to a private HS next year, so I need to study for my ISEEs!

Thanks for sticking with me through all this, and I *promise* that I will try very hard to get some posts up. If you guys could tell me what you want, like more trend reports and stuff, in the comments, that would be absolutely amazing!

Oh, and before I forget, I'm going to be using my normal You Tube channel (www.youtube.com/noboudaries10) and make it a Guru channel. So check it out around Friday or Saturday, because hopefully, I'll have some videos up by then!

Thanks :)

TREND REPORT: Dolman Sleeves

Hey there :)

So one of this season's hottest trends is the dolman sleeve. What it is is a sleeve that has a very large armhole, and a tight cuff. They are *incredibly* popular for sweaters and t'shirts right now
. The one in the above picture also has a cowl neck, but I'll get into that some other time.

If you are petite like me, you want to steer away from dolman tops that are turtlenecks- they're not going to do anything to elongate your torso, and can make you look wider than you actually are. If you have larger arms, then dolman tops are perfect for you- the way they fall (nice and drapey) is very forgiving!

One of the best ways to wear a dolman sleeve shirt is also the simplest; just wear it with some skinny jeans or leggings and boots. The idea is to have a fitting bottom, so it's a nice contrast.

You can find dolman tops in several different items- jackets, cardigans, and shirts. All of them are good pieces to have, and you can find them in many different stores. My personal favorite is this one: http://www.tobi.com/product/15461-free-people-textured-dolman-cardigan-sweaters?color_id=18550&cmp=shp
While it's a little pricey, it would look great with just a simple t'shirt and jeans.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading :)

Forever 21 Cosmetics

Hey there :)

I've been wanting to try out the cosmetics at Forever 21 out for a while now, so a couple of days ago I went there and bought some mascara and lip gloss. They've added a lot of stuff to their collection now, so I want to try some more stuff, like the eyeshadows.

For some reason, it's not letting me upload pictures, so here's the link to the mascara
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=acc_cosmetics&product_id=1065036005&Page=3
and the lip gloss
http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=acc_cosmetics&product_id=1062472904&Page=4

The mascara was pretty good, but I thought that it was kind of runny. It didn't do much for volumizing, but it did make my eyelashes look longer. I'm not complaining though, because it was only $2.80!

The lip gloss, on the other hand, was much better. I really liked the color (I got the burgundy) and it stayed nice and shiny for a while. I had to apply a coat of chapstick underneath the second time though, because it made my lips really parched. And, the best part? It was only $1.50!!!

What's Hot for Fall/Winter

Maxi Dress (Issac Mizrahi)- maxi dresses have been in for a while, and from the looks of it, they aren't going 'out' any time soon. They're great transitional pieces, because you can wear them in the summer, and maybe even the winter, depending where you live.

One Shoulder (Carolos Miele)- A lot of dresses this season have the one-shoulder look, not quite as revealing as strapless, but not as prim as sleeveless. The one word that I could use to describe all of these looks is 'edgy'- this is because designers are taking a lot of inspiration from trends from the 80s.
The Playsuit Look (Brian Reyes)- Playsuits made their comeback over the summer, and now, you'll find them everywhere. This particular look isn't exactly a playsuit, but it combines the two basic elements- high waisted shorts, and a tucked in tank.
Shirt Dresses (Arise: African Promise Collective)- this is one trend that anyone can do, no matter their age or style. You can dress them up or down, all depending on the shoes that you pair with.
See Through (Allude)- This is that kind of a trend that not everyone can pull off, but the people who can look killer. Your best bet would be a see-through vintage lace top with a cami underneath- it's edgy but not crossing the line.
Tribal Prints (Alexandre Herchcovitch)- Bright tribal prints add a nice pop of color to normally boring outfits. They're a great effortless way to add some pattern into your outfit.

The Fitted Jacket (3.1 Phillip Lim)- You're going to see fitted jackets on almost any runway. They're great versatile pieces that can be paired with pants or skirts for a more edgy take on any 9 to 5.
