hey :)
so the apple shape is basically when you're 'top heavy'. some of the characteristics are broad shoulders, a big chest, a undefined waist, small hips, and shapely legs.
generally, v-cuts are your best bet if you're an apple because they show off your chest. cinched and fitted jackets and blazers are also good because they create the illusion of a smaller waist. short, waist-fitted skirts are also good because they can show off your nice legs. light wash jeans can help you look like you have bigger thighs and butt. nice chunky shoes help to balance you out, so steer away from stiletos.

steal the look:
lace cami- $16 at wet seal
green floral skirt- $16 at forever 21
gold and green pendant necklace- $68 at piperlime
brown regal boots- $45 at delias
this is a perfect look because you can wear it to a backyard party in the summer, or out with friends in the spring. the lace cami is good because not only does it have the ideal v-shape, but it has a lace trim on the top, which will carry attention up, not down. the skirt sits at your hips, not the waist, so it doesn't matter that there isn't much definition. it also helps to show off your shapely legs, and the nice chunky boots help to balance out your figure.
steal the look;
crocheted empire top- $15 at wet seal
pink platform heels- $19 at wet seal
elastic waist gray leggings- $40 at topshop
vintage heart necklace- $48 by fossil
stopwatch earrings- $9.40 at monsoon.co.uk
this is a slightly more dressy look, but you could swatch out the shoes for whatever you like. the top is an empire waist, which is universally a great cut (i feel like im talking about meat lmao) because it tucks in right under your chest, and then covers up anything below it. the gray leggings help to create curves, and show off your legs. the platforms are nice and chunky, so you are evened out.
steal the look:
tiered cami- $25 at wet seal
light wash jean shorts- $40 at american eagle outfitters
strappy brown boots- $31 at asos.com
snow bunny charm bracelet- $47 by betsey johnson
pearl drop earrings- $30 by betsey johnson
this outfit is cute, and a little elegant. the ruffles help to cover up any lack of definition, and it doesn't hurt that they're adorable :) the light wash jean shorts create some curves, and again, they show off your curves! you could swap in jeans though, if you think you'll get cold. the boots look nice with the shorts because they stick with the whole 'slim silouette' idea.
