Ask Lise #1

I know, I know. The name's incredibly cheesy. We'll work on it ;)

So a while back I introduced this thing where you can ask me a beauty or fashion related question and I'd answer it on the blog. Well this is the first response, from justyournot-so-averageteen. Thanks :)

Q: My parents recently decided to stop paying for my clothes because they didn't deem them essential. What are some fashion basics you recommend for a girl on a budget?

A: First, I have to say that sucks! Right now, you might want to consider investing in some basic pieces that you can wear a million different ways. Case in point- v'necks. You can wear them under sweaters, with camis, with different scarves...the list goes on. At Forever 21, most v-necks are $4.80, although they're not that great quality.

Since it's winter, you probably will need some sweaters to keep you warm. Tj Maxx, Marshalls, or any other store like that is a great place to look. I've found a couple of really nice American Eagle cardigans in Marshalls for $15!

As for jeans, you're best bet again is Forever 21. A basic pair of jeans would run you only about $15. All you really need are two pairs of denim ones, but if your budget has some room, you could get a colored pair or cords.

Accessories are going to become your best friend. They can transform any outfit. Maybe you could work something out with your mom where you can borrow some of her jewelry... If that doesn't work, necklaces are very easy to make (just Google for ideas), and Forever 21 and H&M both have reasonably priced jewelry and scarves.

Good luck :)
